Shiva Lingams are egg-shaped stones made of cryptocrystalline quartz. They are found in one of the seven holy sites of India - the Narmada River in Onkar Mandata. Villagers gather the stones from the river and hand polish them.
The Lingam (also, Linga, Shiva linga in sanskrit (lingam), meaning mark or sign) is a symbol for the worship of the Hindu Lord Shiva. The use of this symbol for worship is an ancient tradition in India. Siva means auspiciousness and linga means a sign or a symbol. Hence the Sealing is regarded as a "symbol of the great God Shiva.
